 Mission Statement
The Career Center at Gallaudet University assists students in reaching their career goals by integrating liberal education with experience in the marketplace. We educate and empower students to practice lifelong career development skills, make effective career decisions, and achieve professional success.

Career Center Program Goals

To accomplish its mission, the Career Center focuses on these overall program goals:
  • Educate students on the four major steps of the career development process (self assessment, information gathering, decision making, and application) and the value of these steps for lifelong career success
  • Advise and coach students in the process of developing and practicing effective lifelong career development skillsJob Fair at Gallaudet University
  • Provide students with rich and varied opportunities to develop and practice transferable skills that are valued in the marketplace
  • Utilize the best available technology to deliver programs and services that put students in the "driver's seat"
  • Maintain high standards of professional practice, continue growing as professionals and contribute to our profession
  • Market our services effectively to key customers (e.g., students, employers, faculty, etc.) and communicate well with them
  • Provide employers with high-quality recruiting services and engage them in educating our students for career success
  • Collaborate with faculty to provide students with the best possible experiential learning and career development opportunities
These goals serve as a guide for the Career Center's annual objectives and ongoing assessment of student learning and program outcomes.
